Lodano, Vallemaggia, Ticino, 2023. Restoration of an old village house:
The existing building, consisting of two connected dwelling houses and a storage room, was in good condition, but spatially disorganised due to various interventions over the years.
The renovation project aimed to reorganise the building’s rooms in such a way as to make its spatial layout simpler and the original identity of the buildings more legible. The staircase was placed centrally to make vertical circulation more fluid. As for the quality of the materials, degraded elements, such as the roof, or those far from current standards, such as the windows, have been replaced.
