Giumaglio, Vallemaggia, Ticino, 2021. Wine press restoration:
The winepress is located in Giumaglio in the municipality of Maggia. It is a traditional building made of stone and wooden beams that develops on three levels.
The house has not undergone any changes since it was built in 1748. It houses a mighty wooden grape press for pressing the marc and an oil mill for extracting walnut oil.
The aim of the project was to give back the right architectural dignity to the building, with interventions aimed both at the technical-typological recovery of the building, and at the reinterpretation of the interior spaces.
Particular attention has been paid to the recovery and restoration of the original elements and materials; where this was not possible, with contemporary elements in order to clearly highlight the differences.
